The goal of Johan Gelper sculptures is to create alterations that involve us through daily objects we often ignore. The chairs, screens, and panels that constitute his works are altered in such a way we can finally relate to them aesthetically. It now seems that their true purpose comes to light, that is, it emerges from the indifference that usually constitutes them. This is the arte povera of the 21st century. Philosophically we could say he alters these objects ontologically, that is, at the root of their Being.
